Cottage Cheese Clafouti

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 tablespoon butter, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 4 eggs, room temperature
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cups cottage cheese
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Recipe

  • 1 position rack in center of oven and preheat to 425 degrees.
  • 2 spread butter over the bottom and sides of a 2 quart souffle dish and dust with 1 tablespoon sugar.
  • 3 combine all remaining ingredients except cottage cheese and 1 tablespoon sugar in blender and blend until smooth.
  • 4 add cheese and blend at low speed just until mixed, about 5 seconds.
  • 5 pour custard into prepared dish.
  • 6 and bake for 30 minutes.
  • 7 lower oven temperature to 350 and bake 10 minutes longer.
  • 8 sprinkle custard with 1 tablespoon sugar.
  • 9 bake for 5 more minutes.
  • 10 remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before serving.
