Lemon Brunch Buns

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 packages yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 cup scalded milk
  • 4 egg whites, beaten
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 package lemon flavor instant pudding and pie filling, prepared

Recipe

  • 1 soften yeast in warm water and 2 tsp sugar.
  • 2 scald milk and pour over stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • 3 add softened butter and egg yolks that have been beaten with sugar until thick and lemon colored.
  • 4 to this, add the yeast mixture and flour (about 5-6 cups)to form a soft dough.
  • 5 let rise until light.
  • 6 pinch off little pieces, rolling them into long strips about 8 inches long.
  • 7 then form these strips into figure eights.
  • 8 fill holes with lemon filling.
  • 9 let rise again about 30 minutes and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until slightly golden in color.
  • 10 dust with icing sugar or drizzle with icing just before serving.
  • 11 i have also made these with blueberry pie filling and they were delicious!
