Caramel Apple Bread Pudding

Ingredients
- 6 slices thick day old bread, cut in 1/2 inch cubes
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 eggs, slightly beaten
- 2 cups warm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup finely chopped apple
- 1/3 cup finely chopped pecans
Recipe
- 1 place bread in greased 2 qt casserole. combine water and brown sugar and pour over bread. combine remaining ingredients and pour over bread.
- 2 bake at 350 degrees for 50 - 60 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. delicious served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
