Ingredients

- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature (1 stick)
- 5 slices bread (3/4-inch-thick slices)
- 1/2 cup firmly packed ligth brown sugar
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
- 4 cups half-and-half
- 5 eggs
- brandy
- additional light brown sugar
- 1 cup whipping cream, whipped to soft peaks
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 300 degrees.
- 2 generously butter bread; cut each slice diagonally into 2 triangles.
- 3 arrange bread, butter side up, in 9x13-inch baking dish.
- 4 sprinkle with 1/2 cup brown sugar, raisins and peel.
- 5 beat half and half and eggs to blend;pour into dish over bread.
- 6 bake until firm, 40 to 50 minutes.
- 7 spoon into bowls, drizzle with brandy, sprinkle with additional brown sugar and serve immediately with whipped cream.
