Bread And Butter Pudding

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature (1 stick)
  • 5 slices bread (3/4-inch-thick slices)
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed ligth brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 4 cups half-and-half
  • 5 eggs
  • brandy
  • additional light brown sugar
  • 1 cup whipping cream, whipped to soft peaks

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • 2 generously butter bread; cut each slice diagonally into 2 triangles.
  • 3 arrange bread, butter side up, in 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • 4 sprinkle with 1/2 cup brown sugar, raisins and peel.
  • 5 beat half and half and eggs to blend;pour into dish over bread.
  • 6 bake until firm, 40 to 50 minutes.
  • 7 spoon into bowls, drizzle with brandy, sprinkle with additional brown sugar and serve immediately with whipped cream.
