Chocolate Bread Pudding

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 55 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 ounces butter
  • 4 cups french bread, 1 inch cube
  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup sugar

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter in a bowl, toss with bread. in a sauce pan, bring milk and cream to a boil and remove from heat. add cream mixture to chocolate, whisking until combined well. add egg yolk and sugar. pour custard over bread. let pudding stand, covered, one hour.
  • 2 preheat oven to 350 degrees and butter a pan.
  • 3 transfer pudding to pan and bake in middle of oven until just set, but still trembles slightly, about 50 minutes. serve pudding warm or at room temperature.
