Crockpot Pea Soup

Total Time: 8 hrs 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 8 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1 ham bone or 2 -3 lamb neck bones
  • 2 (32 ounce) containers chicken broth or 2 (32 ounce) containers stock
  • 2 (16 ounce) bags dried split peas
  • 4 carrots
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 cups water
  • salt and pepper

Recipe

  • 1 dice onions and saute in the olive oil until soft then add to crock pot.
  • 2 peel and slice the carrots and add to crock pot
  • 3 add bone(s), stock, and garlic powder to crock pot.
  • 4 add water. you may add water to achieve volume or final density you desire (i usually maximize the space in my crock pot, and this results in a less dense soup that doesn't turn into pudding in the fridge).
  • 5 salt and pepper to taste.
  • 6 you may opt to make a stock from the lamb bone(s) in your crock pot overnight the night before. this makes it easier to remove the bones and cartilage, then just add everything else.
