Coffee Custard

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream or 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups very strong coffee or 1 1/4 cups espresso

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350*f.
  • 2 scald milk or cream remove from heat.
  • 3 beat eggs and sugar together until foamy.
  • 4 add the milk or cream and the coffee and mix well.
  • 5 pour the mixture into individual custard cups or one 6-cup baking dish, and set in pan of hot water in a pre-heated oven. (the water should come half-way up the sides of the dish.).
  • 6 bake for 35-45 minutes until a knife inserted in the centre comes out dry. (a 6-cup dish will take at least 15 minutes longer than individual custard cups.).
  • 7 chill at least 2 hours before serving.
