Old Fashioned Dark Chocolate Pie

Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 tablespoons dark cacao
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pie crust
  • 4 egg yolks

Recipe

  • 1 pie crust:.
  • 2 defrost 1 standard sized pie crust by leaving it out for 10-15 minutes.
  • 3 once the crust is defrosted, use a fork to poke holes into crust. be thorough.
  • 4 bake pie crust in oven at 375 degrees fahrenheit for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • 5 let cool.
  • 6 pie filling:.
  • 7 combine dry ingredients.
  • 8 add milk, egg yolks, and vanilla.
  • 9 use wire whisk to whip mixture until smooth and creamy.
  • 10 cook on stove top on medium-high heat until it just starts to thicken.
  • 11 be sure to continuously stir while cooking to prevent burning.
  • 12 once it starts to thicken, lower to medium heat.
  • 13 continue to cook & slowly stir until a very thick "pudding" forms.
  • 14 remove from heat and whisk until smooth.
  • 15 pour into prepared pie crust. chill in refrigerator for 6-8 hours.
  • 16 do not cover,cut, or serve until pie is completely cooled.
