Old Fashioned Bread Pudding

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened (1/4 cup)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 3 cups soft bread cubes (about 5 slices)
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees f.
  • 2 put butter in small bowl.
  • 3 scald milk (heat till just below boiling) and pour over butter, stir to mix well.
  • 4 beat eggs.
  • 5 gradually stir into milk mixture. stir in sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
  • 6 put bread cubes and raisins in a 1-1/2 quart baking dish; pour in milk mixture. stir gently to moisten the bread evenly.
  • 7 set in a larger pan; add hot water to the outer pan to come halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
  • 8 bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • 9 serve warm or cold.
