Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 3 cups firm bread, cubes
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • vanilla ice cream
  • chocolate syrup

Recipe

  • 1 generously butter a 2-quart baking dish or casserole.
  • 2 combine bread and chocolate chips in the buttered dish.
  • 3 whisk together eggs, sugar and salt in a medium bowl.
  • 4 gradually whisk in milk and cream.
  • 5 drizzle over bread cube mixture; wrap tightly and refrigerate until ready to bake, several hours or overnight.
  • 6 at least 1 1/2 hours before serving, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 7 uncover baking dish and place on rimmed baking sheet.
  • 8 bake pudding until golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, 50 to 60 minutes.
  • 9 set aside to cool slightly before serving.
  • 10 to serve, divide pudding among 6 bowls.
  • 11 top with ice cream and drizzle with chocolate syrup.
