- 3 cups firm bread, cubes
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- vanilla ice cream
- chocolate syrup
Recipe
- 1 generously butter a 2-quart baking dish or casserole.
- 2 combine bread and chocolate chips in the buttered dish.
- 3 whisk together eggs, sugar and salt in a medium bowl.
- 4 gradually whisk in milk and cream.
- 5 drizzle over bread cube mixture; wrap tightly and refrigerate until ready to bake, several hours or overnight.
- 6 at least 1 1/2 hours before serving, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 7 uncover baking dish and place on rimmed baking sheet.
- 8 bake pudding until golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, 50 to 60 minutes.
- 9 set aside to cool slightly before serving.
- 10 to serve, divide pudding among 6 bowls.
- 11 top with ice cream and drizzle with chocolate syrup.
